My work expresses my desire for adventure and excitement, drawing influence from the things, places, and people that I have encountered along the way. I work through a variety of mediums including, but not limited to: jewelry, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and drawing.
Working through series allows me to fully explore an idea, and then find a way to unify it through different mediums. I have developed a unique style that recognizably translates itself throughout my work and allows me to express an idea using an array of materials and textures and form it into a cohesive statement.
My current series, Flying, was inspired by my two pet Parrotlets, Pie and Salsa. Parrotlets are known for being the smallest species of parrot kept in captivity, but having the intelligence and feisty demeanor of one of their much larger feathered cousins. This series depicts their adorable looks and frisky attitudes through use of bright color, repetition and a sense of humor. If the Installation makes you smile, then you’ll know what it feels like to have one of these parrots in your life!
